Default Crank no start solved; no ground at fuel pump

It stated with starter fluid and I checked it had spark at coil. So I suspected fuel pump. Turns out it was not getting a ground to the pump through the harness connector. I read the ground comes from the computer. So I pigtail a ground into the wire leading into the connector and she’s running strong. While I was under there I noticed the rollover valve on the fuel pump was broken. Does any one know or it can be swapped without dropping the tank or lifting the bed?

What year truck? 96-97 can be if there is enough for it to be lifted out. 98 and above you have to turn it then pull it out. (Note: it's a tight fit so when I say pull I mean pry) If I remember correctly 98 and above you can't

thanks, it a 97 and looks like it would be tight. I was thinking about just sealing it off. As I imagine it's not necessary.

It is very much necessary as the other valve uses it to pull a vacuum and to vent the tank. According to another member it can replaced with the tank in the vehicle. It will be tight fitting just be warned as it goes into a gasket . Cheapest I found is $28 on Amazon
