Won’t start in park

Default Won’t start in park
I have been having some issue with not wanting to start in park so shift out and back into park and will crank. I can tell it is make some kind of contact by killing radio etc. won’t do it in gear. Tried a few times holding tightly in park and it would apparently make up and start. Now it won’t do anything. Is it the neutral safety switch or is there a switch on the steering column bad. Or does it just need adjusting. TIA
sorry. It is 2001 ram 2500 with 5.9 Cummins. Auto

If it starts in neutral it's the neutral safety switch.

Check you shift linkage and the bracket that is on the valve body shaft. Make sure the bracket is not loose.
