I've got a 1997 ram 1500 with an automatic transmission. When I push the parking brake down, it just springs back up. There are no clicks or anything when pushed down. Also, when I push it down, it barely slows the truck down. Any help would be appreciated.
When is the last time the e-brake actually worked? Keep in mind, rear brakes only do about 30% of your stopping even when everything is working perfectly..... so, you can't expect a whole lot from just the rears. My guess is, the ratcheting mechanism in the pedal itself has seized up. Some PB blaster applies in the appropriate places will help break it loose.

I just tried the PB blaster. Nothing happened. Still goes straight To the floor and shoots back up. No clicks or anything
