Default Starts fine then dies when put in gear

I have a 1994 Dodge Ram 1500. The first started when I would pull up to a stop light and the rpms would tank. The radio would still be on.. It would start back up fine but when I put it in gear the engine would die again. So I would have to put the truck in park, one foot on the break and other foot on the gas to get the rpms up and then I could get it in gear. Any ideas?

What engine? When was the engine serviced last time (plugs etc.)?

Welcome to DF!

Right off hand it does sound like a dirty idle air control valve. If so a simple cleaning is all it takes.

I second this! Easy to fix and should take care of it quickly!

Definitely sounds like an IAC or TPS issue.
