How do I get this charger out? I've tried pressing in tabs, twisting, turning, wiggling.....even tried cussing. What am I missing?

There should be 2 or 3 tabs by the base you have to press in and it will pull out the front

 

Supposedly just push the socket out from the back:

 

I ended up just ripping it out from the back and ripping the plastic ring in the process, then realizing since I had a better view, that there are real skinny and barely noticeable slots between the chrome and the black plastic sleeve which it looks like you need to slide something into and pry a couple tabs out before it will slide out the front. I was trying to press the tabs in for the last few days wondering why they wouldn't budge, cuz at first glance they look like they should be pushed in.
