Default oil leak

2001 Dodge ram 2500 24valve cummins engine is leaking pretty bad from the driver side right around the block above the power steering reservoir. is this the head gasket? I don see and oil coming from the valve cover, so the leak is in this area.

Clean things up really well, and see if you can see exactly where the leak is coming from. Putting some dye in the oil, and then using the UV lamp, and the pretty orange goggles will make the leak readily apparent.

Tappet cover gasket. Not sure about the VP44, but with the P7100 injection pump has to come off, there's no way to pull the tappet cover with IP in place.

yea tappet cover gasket for sure!! Is there a link for parts required to pull injection pump and R&R the tappet cover? 2001 dodge ram 2500 5.9 24 valve cummins.
I've seen some videos and think i have the basics down. unclear on best type of gasket, any seals for injection pump, and this TDC mark on pump.

Removing the pump is quite straightforward. Only special tool you'll need is for removing the drive gear from the pump. You'll need to rotate the engine to the TDC so the pump shaft keyway is 12 o'clock position. That way you won't loose the key from the shaft when you pull the pump out. Here's good article for pump removal: https://mopar1973man.com/cummins/art...-removal-r506/

As for the gasket, knowing how much work it requires I used the OEM gasket from Cummins dealer. So far no leaks, it was 5-6 years ago and some under 100k miles.
As for the pump seals, I think there's only one o-ring which should be easily available.
