Default 96' 5.9 Ram oil Fluxuation

Hey everyone,
Just got home from a 600 mile trip and the last 12 she was on a flatbed. Went down to Georgia to pick up my new boat and notice that the oil pressure was around 35 to 45. Stopped and checked the oil and it was about 1 1/2 qts low. Finished the boat purchase and started home. Stopped to put oil in 10-30W, noticed that it still kept fluctuating up and down. Until finally she loss power and I coasted to a stop. Temp never got above the normal 190. What do you think? I am thinking oil pump went bad. it will turn over but not run. I will be dropping the pan to check for particles. I am hoping that I don't find any. Please chime in and give me your thoughts. 145,465 Miles. My 2004 has 210,000 and runs like a top.....should have drove that one.

Sounds like a crank sensor. These trucks don't have a fail safe for oil pressure. Hell you can start the truck with no oil in it

For oil "fluxuation" you need to check and/or replace the flux capacitor.

For oil "fluctuation" you need to check oil sender, oil pump, or possibly replace engine!

Did the oil idiot light ever come on? If you can crank it i don't think its lack of oil related. Any codes?

No, idiot light never came on. As for codes have not checked yet have not had time to fool with it. I will check when I get home from work today. Went ahead and purchased oil pump, oil sending/switch and crankshaft position sensor.

pulled dip stick and oil looks clean and good. So no water in pan that I can see from a blown headgasket.

ok guys, really need help here. replaced crank case position sensor, oil sending unit, cap, rotor, ignition coil, wires....she still won't start, when turning her over the rotor turns so I know the chain is still in tac. One thing I need to know is the size of the bolt head on the crank so I can put her at TDC to see where the rotor is sitting, hopefully not on 1 letting me know she jumped a tooth and I need to make the change. Any and all help is needed and welcomed.
