Default fixed or variable orifice

I've seen variable orifice tubes for a/c on 96 Dodge Ram 1500. Supposedly original is "fixed", which does anyone in the know recommend?

Actually, Dodge wants you to replace the whole liquid line, not just the orifice tube.

Never heard of a variable one though. If you have a fixed in there now, replace it with the same.

Thnx you...Me neither...or at least till I started looking for replacement a/c parts. I keep seeing "variable" orifice tubes. articles I've reads on them say they don't work as well as the FIXED ones originally designed for the unit. So I thought i throw the question out there. My line separates rite at the orifice tube anyhow.
