Thermostat for '99 5.2L and Perf Muffler
I had to rebuild my 1999 318!
#5 Cylinder is toast!
I heard these motors run better at a higher temp.... yes/no?
I live in MB. Canada so more heat in the winter would be good :O)
What thermostat do you recommend?
Also, I am going to put a performance muffler on now.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

Nooooo...motors in general don't run better at high temps. Being that you're in Canada, I would suggest the stock 195* T-stat. You could go with a 180* one, but you might notice a little heater peformance loss in the winter.
As for the muffler, a gibson or magnaflow would be a good choice. Look around this forum a bit. There are tons of posts about mufflers!

Don't know about the T-stat but for muffler I'd go with Flowmaster 10 series if you want it loud 50 series if you want it quite inside the cab yet still loud outside the truck. The 10 series is supposed to be as loud as a straight pipe just a differn't tone.
Magnaflow's are also pretty good I just prefer the sound of Flowmasters its a personal preference.

I would preferably go with the cooler thermostat, especially since your already toasted your motor. the 195 degree stat is only good to help control emissions, rule of thumb is a cooler motor is a happier motor, especially the Magnum motor that likes to eat heads due to excessive heat. As for exhaust, I like my Twister but I really don't know if ya can get it up in Canada, its loud but not excessive.
