I can try and at least trace the plug to the right one and disregard the color??

I wonder if I would need a diode or anything to wire that up with or if the negative input on the Viper alarm module handles all of that.

Wish I could go out there now and try it. I'm curious now.

It's been record temps here in AZ so it's not that exciting to go out there each afternoon lately. I'll keep chugging along though.

Oh come on, you don't like playing outside in the triple digit temps? Where is your sense of ADVENTURE??? (not to mention it would be a good weightloss plan......)

What year manual did you download? Does it match the year of your truck? I know that we have year ranges for the manuals, as not much changed from year to year.... but, wire colors did... No idea what Dodge was thinkin' there....

It's been over 110 almost everyday for over a month now. We are breaking records daily. It's unbearable. I bought an old used boat a month ago and was spending the time outside in this horrible heat getting that fixed up. Just when I finished that up the truck was stolen and returned and now I have to fix stuff on that. I think the universe wants me to have a heat stroke. I could lose a couple pounds and look a bit better in the new boat I guess.

The manual available on this site for the 1999 covers 1998-1999. The actual manual states it's for a 1998. I'll trace the specific plug and get whatever color is in the spot that the manual says the right side door trigger is. Hopefully that'll be enough and it doesn't need anything more (like diodes and such). Would be even better if it was just the dome light nice and easy but that didn't seem to work even following the manual and the yellow wire.

For the integrity of the thread and future searches let me sum it up.

Wiring for the 1999 IS different than the 1998.

For a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 BASE BASE BASE model the door trigger wires are as follows:

Left side (driver): White, Black/Green, Tan
Right Side (passenger): White, Black/Green, Tan/Red

All is well with this stupid install, thank you all for your input. Power door locks are nice to have on this beast now.

I still have to tuck all the wires, put door panels back on and clean things up. Then I have front suspension work to do to get it back in shape after it was stolen and returned. I should have this thing done by the end of the weekend. I think one rotor is bad so I'm doing rotors and pads on both sides and hopefully the steering stabilizer is all that's bad under the motor. Fingers crossed.

Thanks again everyone.

So the problem was the colors were wrong?

Yep, I would have still preferred to go to the dome light but that one said yellow in the book and it wasn't. Didn't spend time tracking that one down when it was easier to track down the door triggers.

Alarm is working as it should, I also installed a GPS tracker. Was definitely a longer process than it needed to be. I figured it would be three evenings max but it took four. Oh well. I'll finish up the inside cleaning up and making it look decent tomorrow then on to wheel bearings, rotors, brakes, and steering stabilizer Saturday morning and hopefully that's all I need to do to get it back to good.

If you tapped into the done light wouldn't the alarm trigger if you turned them on?

Only if the alarm is set to “arm”. I probably wouldn’t be in the truck when that happened.
