Default 1998 Ram 1500 Transmission coolant line leak

I own a 1998 Ram 1500 5.9L 4x4 (140K miles). I am getting a trans leak at the top of my Perma-Cool Remote Oil Filter. Have replaced the filter to ensure ring was ok. Vendor says the system will not leak from there as long as the mount and gasket are in good shape which they appear to be. I am considering removing the filter to try to fix the issue. Can I get some ideas from y'all on if that is a good/necessary idea? I like the idea of having it but not as it currently exists (leaking). HELP!

Clean it up real good, and then see if you cant isolate exactly where the leak is coming from.
