Default any valve body install tricks(help)

i pulled the valve body out of my trans and now i can't pull the shifter out of park. the shifter rod inside the trans goes into a tunnel , everything is fitting rite but end result su**ks. is there some kind of trick for installing the valve body. this is the first time i've tried.

Hi,Just some quick thoughts:

1-Does the shifter cycle thru all the gear selections without being hooked up to the valve body?

2-Does the "rooster comb" on the valve body cycle thru all the gears and do the detents work [without being hooked up to any linkage,see pic of rooster comb below]



3- Is the shift linkage installed in its proper orientation? [see pic below]



4-The park sprag rod c-clip should be facing the valve body when installed correctly[I don't have a picture of that], just some thoughts,if the park pawl is stuck, rocking the truck may free it, but most likely you would have to disassemble the od unit to repair it.

5-The adjustment of the shift linkage is critical to proper operation.With the shifter in park,the valve body shift arm should be all the way rearward.[no more rearward movement possible,but just at that point,no more]

yes everything is working fine b-4 installation. there is no way i could see where the rooster comb will end up(cant see that far back).going to try again now.

ok what i found out was you have to bump the drive shaft so that the arm locks in.
