Default Trans service parts needed

Hi guys,

tried looking it up but the range of answers is 5-18 qts of oil for the trans and isnt giving me a warm fuzzy feeling lol. So, if im dropping the pan, doing filter, and draining the tcase, how many quarts of fluid will i need? Trans is a 97 47re with the cummins if it matters. I have yet to look inside the tranny but it looks like there may be a “casing” around the filter, is this accurate and will i need to replace that along with the filter?

thanks!

4 to 6 quarts for fluid filter change on the trans. I think the t-case holds a little over 2??? It has a separate drain/fill plugs. Take out the fill plug first, just to make sure that you can.
