oh that be cool probe that does that..

so far what i noticed.. i added several years ago a toggle switch to add extra reverse lights.. to see.. if you press on the brakes they come on... but still works by switch or putting it in reverse
but didnt notice any issues.. but i pulled the fuses to my switch so the lights wont come on for those extra reverse lights

what else i noticed.. when the truck is running and i press the Brake the Odometer goes dark like i mention and kills the engine.. but when the key is on engine not running or when its stalled
the Odometer or the low fuel light doesnt dim.. only when its running.. so you can put your foot on the brake.. and the odometer doesnt dim one bit

does that narrow anything down? or am i back to tracing all wires.. just noticed the reverse lights coming on the lower ones i added not the actual reverse lights when i press the brake

I would look into your switch your added. Still could be a bad ground unplug the brake sensor by the pedal see if anything changes. Hold the trip button in and turn the key to one (don't start the truck) and continuing holding it until in the odometer is says "check" then release and watch the cluster. It will perform a self test see if anything looks odd to you.

so i did your check test.. showed it seems to be working fine
i pulled the brake switch
i swappwed out the module thats by the gas pedal.. but the other truck is different.. i guess because no power locks
my wiring seems ok
i started truck.. press brake no issues no killin the engine..
brake light still on.. i see the Electric brake module lit up.

i press the Electric brake module button.. Odometer ddims and kills the engine...
so not sure where to look? ill re look at the wiring again tommorow.. pulled out the remote starter and unhooked my toggle switchs i had...
so who knows right?

is it possible the 2nd 02sensor? i hope not didnt wanna exchange it too.. but i stuck go figure

You might just need a new brake switch. The module next to the gas pedal has nothing to do with the vehicle running so it's not that. My suggestion (can't say for sure because I'm not there lol) is get a new brake switch. If it still dies with the new brake switch look at the wiring going to the brake switch.

Another test you can do is pull the tail lights and you'll see a connector (each tail lights has one) and unplug it see if that changes anything

well the brake light switch wouldnt need replacing because i can kill the engine by pressing the button on the Electric Brakes Module.. so with the brake switch unplugged.. when i then press the electric brakes module that also kills the engine lol

ill try the lights tommorow.. big storm here more then 10k power outages in my area i just running on a generator to email you guys back lol

so ill undue the backs.. as i know the tail lights are dim and the cargo light brake light is dim..
but that one probably fine.. but ill check the taillights tomoorow.. always somethhing eh...

as i cant find what could be causing it...... if i ever get it working.. you guys and i going for beers lol

It sounds like the brake controller is wired wrong causing the issue. Or there is something wrong with it.

yes i have a electric brake controller for my 7 Pin trailer hitch outlet on the back
i installed it 10 yrs ago.. this issue of truck problem only 2 months old as i havent driven truck

so i did the other test.. i took the the rear light housings out. nad pulled the 2 brake bulbs
i tried starting truck nothing

i shoved the bulbs back in started truck and started up.. when i go to the back of the truck.. and pull either Left or Right bulb.. it kills the truck engine.
so only way it stays running is if the bulb is working.. you pull left side engine shuts off.. pull the right side engine shuts off

update i let engin warm up... i only did 1 test so far
rear brakes are dim.. when pull the right side.. bulb
the left (driver) those bulbs go brighter and both brake and running light looks like its on but not fully bright i wondering if its the light switch or something i dunn
ill do the other side and test.. but thats what i noticed
does that narrow anything down?

so more testing..
so i re tried... pull both bulbs out..
truck will not start

if i put 1 bulb in either side.. truck will start and the Parking and Brake light come on..
pull that 1 bulb either side.. Engine Kills

since the parking light is also on for the rear i check the front.. no lights it lights up only the back

so does that help narrow things down
