y pipe reconnect 01 360 v8
All four manifold to y pipe flange bolts were hell, and I don't have acetylene. My best friend came by and saved my bacon. Sheared two,a grinder on one, and a dremel on the last.Tried to drill and split the nuts from the bottom, no luck.A time off in purgatory type job.
Are those bolts and nuts hardened?
In the past I have done the reconnects with grade five bolts and brass nuts. Learned that trick working on a 1951 Studebaker champion. Older Volvos did that as well.

They weren't hardened when they were new, but, over time, with the heating/cooling cycles, they sure are.
That, and they rust.... horribly. I won't do exhaust work without a torch available...... Torch just makes it so much easier.
