Default 46re ecm shift strategy OD on vs OFF

Does anyone know if when the overdrive switch is pressed off, the 46re uses a different shift strategy than when OD is off?

I do not believe it does. As I couldn't see other strategies in the PCM

hopefully I used the proper wording. I guess I’m comparing strategy to something such as tow haul that holds gears longer and makes for a more firm shift. I have never seen anything that would indicate that it does. I’m just curious. The other day I had my TT on and took off in town and didn’t realize I hadn’t turned OD off as I was coming up to a stretch that would have allowed it to get into OD. I turned it off before it got to the 3-4 shift and my Revs dropped and all of a sudden felt like a lot more power and smoother as well (if that makes sense). Only thing I can figure is the Tcc engaged but that normally makes one feel gutless. It got me to wondering. I may have missed a shift and it hit 2-3 but that’s unusual for this truck to hold second that long
thank you for your response sir!

Yeah Tow/Haul mode is way different. I do know even when I wasn't towing turning off O/D made it feel more powerful. I do know these trucks always try to engage in O/D so maybe it kicked out of O/D :b

OD off is just that in these though correct? No real tow /haul in these?

That is correct. O/D off is just O/D off. Remember that these are essentially a 727 3spd with an auxiliary overdrive on the rear of them that's engaged electronically. All the switch does is keep it from engaging. If you want tow/haul like shifts and shift points, need a shift kit. I have had mild shift kits in my last 3. Definitely worth it to me but I did it my self so I can't comment on cost other that I had about $200 in parts and trans fluid cause I replaced electronics in the valve body at the same time.

Unfortunately I don’t recall what all I did to it when I had it torn down before I know it got sonax sure cure and sonax servo pistons as well as extra clutches anywhere they could be fit with correct tolerances. Just don’t remember what else was in my rebuild kit. PNH converter as well as Hayden external cooler. Radiator was replaced and cooler lines run through rad. to Hayden cooler. Line pressure was increased as well. I do recall going through some of the plate drilling from the transformer I believe it was shift kit instructions. As well as upgraded borg Warner band.
