Broken connecting rod help
2000 ram 1500 4x4 auto 5.2 magnum. So I spun a connecting rod bearing and snapped a connecting rod. The rod is bent and wedged between the crank and the block, my question is do you think it would be cheaper to take the crank to a machine shop and see if its salvageable and replace the connecting rod. Or just try to source a new bottom end? I know machine shops prices very and all that but I'm just trying to see what a logical next step would be? Thanks
I would remove the crank and have good look that it didn't do any other damage. If not take the crank to get checked out. If you are lucky they will grind it down and you will have to get larger bearings and a new rod.
