Default 1998 a518

First time posting in a forum so I have no clue if this is how to do it. I've got a 1998 ram sport 5.2 previous owner put a transmission in lost reverse for the most part 3 years ago hahaha found reverse piston cracked ,while installing the new piston the strut fell out so removed the valve body and another piece fell out seems to be called the reverse band "short" lever split in half. My question is I'm finding them on eBay however is that piece the same in a jeep or ram van . Numbers on the tranny case are ( 52119515AA 3135 5860 ) my thinking is that if it's an A518 should be good to go any help would be great

Another question is while I'm in there, the trans as far as I'm aware has about 150k truck has 215k and no other trans issues, should I replace the bands and are the "slip in" bands worth it? As for the parts I'm finding some with bands saying 74TP and B95.. I'm guessing that has to do with the bands themselves?

Slip-in bands are a band-aid. (pardon the pun.....) Fix the broke stuff, drive it till it quits.

So far as I know, a 518 is a 518, and there aren't any mechanical differences between manufacturers..... (considering they are all under the FCA roof.....) There are parts manuals (and service manuals....) available for download in the FAQ/DIY section. Grab the ones for your truck, and then search by the part number for the pieces you want. Should be able to find them for a reasonable price from multiple sources, probably even your local parts store.

Welcome to DF!
