00 1500 4x4 not engaging but shaft is turning

i dunno what the warrenty from mister transmission is.. probably a year lol go figure eh..

and ok ill do that with the oil ill have to find the holes..

well i dont wanna reall lock it.. as u also cant really drive on the 401 at 110-120km in 4x4 least i always been told u cant run in 4x4 at that speed

If you lock it you would't be in 4x4 unless you had the shifter in 4x4. Also you can use 4x4 high at any speed, the reason you don't want to use 4x4 on a hard surface is that it will bind up when you turn.

oh ic.. but if you lock it and u dont use the shifter leave it in 2x2 the front wheels still spin same speed wont it have issues also making turns? as the 1 wheel wont be able to turn faster then the other ?

No they will still slip. It will drive like it was when you had a vacuum cad just now you only engage the transfer case.

The front differential allows the wheels to turn at different speeds going around turns just like the rear does.

so then why doesnt the front come locked from the manufacture and u just lock unlock with the shifter on the floor?

you stated youd lock it
and that chrysler got rid of Vacuum shifting 4x4
you didnt say after 2002 all vehicles have locked 4x4 in the front though

besides wouldnt know how to lock it anyways but i bought the actuator so i figure i use it dunno how many years ill be keeping it anyways

All you have to do is slide the collar over into the locked position and put a spacer in on the shaft to keep the fork engaged. When they did away with the CAD they went to a one piece shaft, which you can also do with a CAD axle. They did that with Jeeps in the 90s and trucks starting in 02.

The cad was originally put in there for fuel economy reasons. Not that it really helped....... you may see your mileage drop maybe .1 mpg.... maybe even .2...... Just more stuff spinning when the truck is moving. Probably go thru front u-joints more often as well. (on the driveshaft) Or not. Maybe getting some exercise will actually keep them lubed better so they don't rust away, and fall apart.
