Unknown leaking and squeal

The leak looks to be in the area under the water pump. What does it feel and smell like? Smell like oil or does it smell sweet like antifreeze? I'd put some UV dye in the coolant and drive it a little bit. Use a test light (and the safety glasses) and see where the leak is from. My first thought is you water pump is failing. The squeel is from the shaft binding and the leak is from the weep hole on the bottom of the shaft. A dye test will tell you for sure.

No. Heater core wouldn't show signs of leaking under the hood. You have more than one issue. 
Fixing the heater core first will likely make the under hood leak worse. (and vice versa.....) I suspect you are going to need to address both at once, in order to get your cooling system working properly again.

These guys know their stuff. They've been helping fix my truck for the last few years. I agree you have two problems. The water pump is kind of time consuming because you have to remove everything that mounts to the bracket in front of the water pump. If you do it yourself, do what these guys recommended for me. I think 9 more bolts and you can change out your timing gears/ chain assembly. That was some really good advise because what I saw when I removed the cover was, well shocking to say the least. It didn't have many more miles left. As far as the heater core? I'm pretty the dash has to come off or at least be rotated to enable access. Let us know and good luck!!
