Recently bought a 2001 1500 with a 5.9L with 216k on it to use a a work truck. I’m looking at putting a 12ft box trailer with it. Anyone have experience pulling something similar with a truck like that?
or know any mods I can do to the truck to help it out with more power.

2 or 4 wheel drive? Axle ratio? Manual or automatic?

 

it’s 4WD. I’m not sure the ratio and it’s automatic.
it’s an SLT Laramie extended cab with the 6ft bed. If that makes a difference.
The truck has a class IV hitch and a 7 pin hook up (but I suppose that could of been added on later. ).

 

Go here, and get a build sheet for your truck, that will tell you what your axle ratio is.

Still and all, I think your max towing weight is going to be around 7500 lbs or so. Think your trailer and cargo are going to even get close to that?
