OD light came on
2001 Ram 4x4 Sport 5.9 46RE
I was adjusting my TV cable and my OD light came on after a few adjustments and test drives. I obviously couldn't turn it back off by hitting the OD button. It's a remand trans that I installed about 6 months ago and maybe 2K miles on it since install and never had issues with it. Reason why I was adjusting the TV cable is that I was installing new injectors and broke the clip trying to remove it from the throttle body and I had to install a new one. I know that OD light indicates trans overheating, fluid level and/or bad overdrive solenoid. It shifts great and the fluid level is fine. I replaced the filter and fluid a little over a week ago and checked the fluid again today, nice and clean. I don't have any codes yet since I erased them when my alternator took a crap last week. After reinstalling my CAI went and turned her back on and take her back on another test drive the OD light did not come back on. Should I test for a bad solenoid? Wait and drive and see if any codes come on? I don't put many miles on her right now since I work about 5 blocks from where I live, at least for now. I do drive her around but only locally for the most part.

PCM will automatically disable overdrive if it sees the trans overheating. Let it sit for a while, and it's fine again. At least, till the trans gets hot again.
Typical cause for that problem is the check valve in the trans cooler line plugging up. It is in the line going to the lower fitting on the radiator, right where the line transitions from metal, to rubber, just in front of the engine.
