Default Mopar Preformance PCM #P5249935

Hey yall, im wondering if there is any difference in tuning ability between the stock PCM and the Mopar preformance P5249935? Im building a 408 stroker and it will be tuned regardless. Will the mopar make a difference over stock even with a tune? If so would anybody have one laying around they'd like to sell? Ive looked everywhere, local and online, turning up nothing. Ive thought about walking around the junkyards but honestly what are the chances of finding that specific part number in a wrecked truck LOL

There is one place that "has it in stock" https://www.monicattichrysler.com/comersus/store/comersus_viewItem.asp?idProduct=1578
But this place is a scam, the dudes up in Michigan if i remember correctly, has a single review on google also saying its a scam. Ive called numerous times with no answer, so if you do end up searching for one like me, keep this in mind

The only difference is the programming. The "performance" programming is a bit more aggressive. Since you are doing the 408, you are going to need a custom tune anyway, so, the performance programming would do you no good at all. Just stick with the stock PCM, and flash the program for your 408 to that. (assuming your truck is 96 or newer)

Is there any way for tuning for the older trucks? How would they go about that?

For yours, moving to the 96-97 system would work. It is flash-programmable, but, the gauges and such are run directly from the sensor, not the communications bus. Just need the underhood harness, PCM, do some re-pinning of a couple connectors, and you are set.

I have a mopar performance pcm for my truck that I’m going to install now that I got the plenum fixed but want to go with a small cam one day and maybe a pro charger if I can find one.
