Default New ECM needed / Plenum bolts

My 2000 Dodge Ram 5.9 has thrown two codes #71 and #72 indicating problems with the ECM. Am looking for sources to buy a a replacement. Apparently you need the VIN and to have the box programmed for your vehicle. I found one on Amazon for $209.00 that will program your VIN. Are there any other better deals out there or is this a decent find?
Other question is that I need a plenum gasket replacement and understand that you need a shorter bolts for it. Does anyone have the specs for these bolts and a source for them?

Solo PCM is reportedly pretty good on customer service, might give them a call.

If you just replace the gasket on the plenum, you can just use some washers on the existing bolts to accomplish the same thing. Otherwise, there are plenty of folks selling 'kits' with the aluminum plenum plate, new bolts, and various other bits and bobs.

How/where did you get the codes ? They look like ABS codes in which case replacing the PCM wouldn't do anything.

Advanced auto ran the scan and it says code 71 Electronic control unit random access memory read / write malfunction and Code 72 Electronic control unit read only memory checksum malfunction. Thought these were ECM issues?

Yea i seem to find the same thing. If it was OBD # code they are to generic anyway you need the "P" codes to tell anything.

Yeah, 2000 is OBDII, where they are getting two digit codes is a mystery to me.

Out of curiosity, what symptoms was the truck exhibiting that caused you to get the PCM scanned for codes?

Some googling shows these exact two codes/descriptions mentioned in connection with the ABS module ("CAB"). It's nothing specific to the scan tool. If there are no PXXXX codes from the PCM I would not change the PCM and rather troubleshoot the ABS module. Problem is not many scan tools can clear codes in the ABS module (I assume the ABS light on). I do not know if disconnecting the battery clears ABS codes like it does with PCM codes. Anybody know ?
