Default 4th Gen Wheels on a 2nd Gen

I have put 4th Gen rims on my 98.5 4x4 2500. The wheels fit just fine. I got them after I fitted a 2.5" leveling kit. The problem that I am having is the hub caps from the new wheels do not fit over the end of the axle. The hub cabs do fit with the lugs I had on the truck as they fit on the front. I am not quite sure what solutions I have to get the rear hub caps to fit without adding wheel spacers. Does anyone know of any other solutions that would work?

Wondering if a 2nd gen 8 lug style hub cap will work with those wheels? I'm thinking that the difference may be that the 4th gens use an AAM style differential and the 2nd gens use a Dana style differential?
