Default Socket to lower spare tire

On a 2001 Ram 2500 pick up there is a socket that accepts a male part with 6 sides to lower the spare. What is that tool called and what does it look like?

One solution is to get a bolt with a 5/8'' head, that I can insert into the 5/8'' socket, and weld a nut with a 15/16'' head on the other end, something that can be twisted with the lug wrench. Monday get a 7/16 dia bolt that has such a head and go from there. Or, get one long enough that I can put a 90 degree bend in it and use it to spin it up and down. Better ideas are always appreciated, spill em em if you got em.

You can view the spare tire tool kit and how it works in this series of videos. This tool kit is typically located behind the seat or under the passenger side seat. The tool kit is something easily found at a pick and pay type of salvage yard if you don't have the tool kit that came with your truck. When I purchased my truck, the tool kit wasn't with the truck.
