Default Transmission not going into OD

1997 ram 1500 4wd. Shifts fine 1-3 not shifting into OD. Runs 2500 RPM at 55 MPH. I do not know which tyranny it has in it. I went to parts house and they say it calls for 5 different transmissions. Any and all input will be appreciated.

It's not showing any code except for O2 sensor. Talked to a transmission guy, he said that I had a 518 trans 46re. He also said that if it wasn't throwing a code more than likely OD band was broken. Anyone have anything to maybe help me out

If the speedo is working and no codes sounds like an issue with the overdrive itself or the solenoid is failing. You can tap into the wire that goes to the overdrive solenoid and see if the pcm is supplying a ground to energize it(after 45mph).

The PCM should complain about not seeing an RPM drop when it commands O/D. If you aren't getting any codes, that *should* imply the PCM is NOT requesting O/D......

Have you tried to cycle the OD button? Does the light work?
