Default Headlight issues, high beam indicator always on

OK, I replaced my headlight lenses couple days ago and noticed this issue. When my headlights are on, the high beam indicator stays on no matter what. When I click the switch, the lights do change from low to high and vice versa. If I have just the running lights on and the fog lights, as soon as I turn switch to headlights, fog lights go off whether they are on high or low. If the bulbs are out of the sockets, the high beam indicator works like it should. Also, when lights are on low, the light looks very dim. I have researched and tried everything that was suggested. I have checked all fuses, replaced the headlight control switch on dash and have replaced the muli-switch on the steering column. I am using the correct bulbs, 9007 which I made sure to look at the numbers from the OEM bulbs. I don't know what else to do, hope someone can help me out.

This issue could have developed before I changed the lenses, haven't drove at night for a while, so no telling when this actually occurred.

My truck:
2001 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie
2 wheel drive
5.9 V8
Single bulb headlights
No DTRL module

For all I know the non-sports use 9004 bulbs. That's what the factory parts manual says, and rockauto as well. The symptoms would suggest that as well.

On another note, what I've read, is that non-sport (single bulb for each headlight) models use a 9004 bulb. The bulbs I took out was a 9007 and have been running these for years without issue, but did have a different aftermarket headlight assembly. These had a wiring extension, cause of how far in the bulbs sat in the housing. I looked at the extensions and it looked like the wires were straight and not crossed to convert to 9007 or vice versa. These new headlight housings are closer to stock, so no need for extension. I may go by tomorrow and get a set of 9004's just to see what happens.

OK, so it seems that the pigtail that came with my old headlights converted to use 9007's. Bought 9004's today and all is well, now that I have spent over $200 replacing parts that didn't need to be, oh well.
