Default Steering damper

Hey guys. First post, hope it’s in the right section.
replacing steering damper on my 01 1500. I have the correct part number. Rancho rs5412. Installed it but my wheels do not have a complete turn. It’s like the damper fully extended is to short. Pulled it out to compare to the old one. The rancho extends 8” shorter than the old one. Makes no sense. Any thoughts?

Return the Rancho and get either Monroe or leave it off. It really doesn't do much and leaving it off does no harm. I've driven years without it.

I'd personally contact Rancho and discuss this issue with them. In addition, you can share that photo with them to explain what you're experiencing. Perhaps someone on the assembly line assembled that new steering damper incorrectly.

Rancho is made as aftermarket part for lift kits. The monroe is just a oem replacement.

And Rancho is owned by Monroe. You can clearly see that it not the correct one. Go to the Rancho web site and look it up and double check the part #.

Didn't know that. Figures. But those water shocks are crap. Either leave it off or stick with a cheap gas shock.
