Default Fixing Power Door Locks?

On mine, I hear the motors run, but, the locks won't lock or unlock. Just make electric motor noises when I play with the button. I am used to solenoids for power locks.... (gm design) Anyone had these apart, to see if there is any hope of repair?

I had this issue when I 1st purchased my truck. I went to the junkyard and picked up a couple of the motors and got the power door locks working again.

I haven’t personally had one apart... but remember seeing a thread or video on overhauling them.
I’m struggling to remember what the actual issue is, but think it’s related to gear engagement/worn bushing... I know my passenger lock sounds like stripped gears when it tries to do its thing.
I do recall thinking it was a reasonably easy fix.
Sorry I can’t be of more (actual) help.

Yeah, I seem to remember reading something about that as well....

What I found was, if it's the motor not responding, that is actually fixable without too much effort. (aside from digging it out of the door) But, for the 'motor spins, but no lock action', there is a plastic gear that strips, and that part is not available on its own. Gotta replace the latch assembly.....

Wish you would have started this sooner, I just junked 2 does with good motors you could of had them. I did rebuild one a few years ago and I used a kit but Google isn't coming up anything

I do believe it was the entire latch assembly that I had to replace, which included the motor on it. During the time I went to the junkyard for that part, it was during the cash for clunkers time-frame, so there were plenty of the trucks available to pick from.
