Default Timing Cover Gasket

So I am replacing my timing chain (WOW! It has a lot of slack I'm surprised it didn't jump a tooth) and was wondering if anyone ever did anything special for the timing cover gasket. The one I got is metal but I know they are notorious for leaking. Maybe add a layer of spray gasket on each side?

I used a paper gasket...... put a thin smear of RTV on both sides, no leaks. I wouldn't trust the metal gasket......

it has rubber on it but not a lot lol. I'll coat it with a thin layer of rtv, then I'll slap it on.

Welp got it together and replaced the timing chain, water pump, thermostat (back to 195 so my gas mileage isn't crappy because it was whining about the 180), thermostat housing, AC compressor, AC lines, condenser, and thermostat housing. Now just to find a shop that will pull a vacuum add oil and freon.

Thanks HeyYou
