You can contact Marty at Utasome Performance as well. He has a 600hp+ v10 dyno sheet on his website.

What are you using for a transmission? Interesting build but i think a hemi swap would be easier. If you have to have the V10 why not just locate a viper motor. I don't know the differences in the valve train either so that may be another thing to look into.

Keep in mind, the truck V-10 redlines at 4500 RPM. I believe that limitation is a product of the rotating assembly....... So if you wanna go higher than that, and with those heads/intake, I suspect you will.... Gonna have to pay VERY close attention to balance on the bottom end.

OK I guess I should have said I'm pointing to two ports but all 10 on each head need to be welded up. Everybody's a comedian.

Yes plan on twisting up above 5500rpm's with the new engine. After I get the forged pistons and H-beam rods I'll send it to the machine shop and have everything balanced. I'm not looking to make 1000HP so I think the stock crank can handle 600 or so.

Thanks for the info on tuning.

I will be using a stock 47RE for the stock truck engine. When I upgrade to the new engine I will be building a 47RE to handle well more than that engine will be making. The great thing about the 47RE is the diesel guys have already figured out how to make it handle lots of torque.

When it is all said and done I will be in the $4000 to $5000 range on a Ram short block with Viper top end. A compete (used) Viper engine will cost at least that before rebuild. Then if I happen to break it it is ton of cash to fix. I can find these Ram V10's any day for around $500 to $1000.

Thanks for the input. So the PCM will not have DTC's from not being connected to other computers. So no multiplexing?

Thanks
I thought I posted an answer yesterday but it seems I didn't. Until 1998 the PCM was blissfully unaware of other electronic modules, and even after the change you still couldn't access modules through the PCM and needed to use the other buses present at the DLC. Nothing like more modern CANBUS vehicles.

Ouch. That's a LOT more work than I am interested in doing..... (but, my V-10 is still in my truck. )

In stock form they don’t flow much better then the iron truck heads. They are 80 lbs less weight and because I plan to run 10:1 pistons the aluminum will displace the heat better. I do plan on cleaning up the bowls and ports.

Got my engine mounts finished. Next step is making the oil pan and pick up tube.
