Default Loud Engine Knock (YouTube Link in post)

Hey guys,

I have a loud engine knock on my truck. It's been sitting for maybe 6 or 7 months. (Don't have a garage, was waiting for winter to be over before diving back in.)

Oil PSI at idle is about between 60-70. Oil level is fine, but oil is a bit old because I don't put many miles on the truck, so it hasn't had a change in a few years.

Any ideas as to what this could be? Seems a bit loud for loose rocker arms, but not sure. Any help or ideas would be helpful. (I'm honestly tried of working on the old girl. It's been an on going battle fixing this on this for the past few years haha)

Thanks,

Kaldir

That's a fast rhythm too. Doesn't sound like exhaust but anything's possible. You'll have to do some listening at certain items. Check all pulleys too.

Check the inspection plate on the front of the trans, Sometimes they get bent and hit the flywheel. If thats not it time to drop the pan and see what's going on.

Thanks all check all those out. I really hope it’s not a spun bearing. The trucks not worth major engine work at this point.

Use an official/approved mechanix stethoscope to isolate the noise. The best one is usually made by a company called screwdriver handle. Unfortunately, it sounds like the dreaded conn rod knock.
