Default 2001 2500 v10 crankshaft position sensor

So my truck stalled today, threw the snap on scanner on it and came up with p0320 Crankshaft position sensor. It just started happening. Anyone know if it will be ok to drive for a bit. I am supposed to go camping today and I can find one anywhere. Dont know much about the V10 or if any damage can occur. . Any help would be greatly appreciated

Worst that can happen is it will stop running. And of course, it won't pick a convenient time, or place. The failure itself won't damage anything, but, the consequences of it failing at an inopportune time could be bad.

Thanks I just got it out and wiped it down. Thank god it came out easy. Put it back in and no code so far. It was loose although I don’t think that was it. When I run my MT2500 on the truck and check the data screen, it keeps losing signal and rebooting. I checked it on my other truck and its not the scanner. Im hoping that the PCM isn’t failing. I cant cancel this trip now so as stupid as it sounds Im giving it a shot. Hope AAA has provisions for a truck and camper lol.

Do you have AAA Plus? They have saved my bacon on more than one occasion.

May just be a connection problem on the one truck. If the engine continues to run, and you just lose communication..... Check connections at the OBD port. I *think* one of them is a power wire, to let the scanner know the PCM is active. Or some such.

I hope you have a pleasant trip.
