Seller is now offering me a $2K discount to avoid going back to online sales site. My indie Toyota mechanic says he doesn't have an issue with putting such a used part in there, as long as it does the job, self-checks the airbag system ok, and doesn't turn on the light. So maybe it's not as big an issue as I was making it out to be, reading all the warnings in the service manual etc.

I agree that air bags are probably a false sense of security, especially in a large vehicle like a Ram Van 3500 (or a full sized Dodge truck). Although I would feel a bit safer in a truck than in a van (more crumple zones and engine up front). Usually in the case of front end collisions, the truck driver walks away and the car passengers are seriously hurt...

I didn't ask the seller's mechanic about the horn, but assume it works or it wouldn't have passed the safety inspection (the air bag warning light was the only thing that failed).

Those modules are fine if they are used, there is multiple sources to get them rebuilt and reset if you are in the states.
