Oh I get, I even asked my inspector yesterday if they could read it...

I suspect that if fuel timing is dependent on CanPS then it really matters, but we start 4 or better off, if cam manufacturers do XYZ, and we haven't bumped CrkPS, etc.
If it is just a rough position (this is cyl 1), and then running adjustments is good enough.

In the rough position camp, that dist is a very small radius sensor (low precision), the crank is a large radius (high precision), and once position is established (this is cyl 1, 8 more is cyl 1 again, etc.) - why not just run processor on a single timing source (CrnkPS) instead of all that processor power tracking two clocks?

It does do that. Once the vehicle is started the cam sensor is no longer used.
