Is it possible to use 2001 durango transmission/front end to convert a 2wd ram1500

Get a standalone transmission controller for it. Along with the wiring for the 545RFE

You are right. I confirmed with the guy that it was attached to a hemi off a 2003 ram. Are the bell housings the same?

Yep being a stick means no electronics. You will get a check engine light on the day though unless you flash it for a manual

Man, a 2001 with only 84k miles? I would keep it simple and just R&R the tranny. It's odd that it would have issues with such low mileage. I have a 2001 5.9 and had to rebuild the tranny last year at 185k miles. I saved couple hundred bucks by removing it and installing it myself. It was almost not worth it but i honestly don't trust any shop with any of our vehicles.
