Default Proper way to reset computer without scanner?

I've heard everything from "click your heels together 3 times" ...to..."open and close the door twice", no really, how do you properly reset the computer when diagnosing if you do not have a high end scanner?

Disconnect the battery for a while, the PCM will forget all DTCs etc.. The 2nd gen PCM is pretty basic though and I'm not aware of anything that requires a shop level tool to reset, a basic tool should do. Now to see detailed data and perform active tests you'd need something more sophisticated.
