Default 97 manual v10 for sled pulling

Got a 97 2500 with the v10 4x4 and manual tranny. Was just wondering if anyone has competitively pulled with one. First time pulling a couple weeks ago only pulled a little over 250 ft. Second gear the whole way. Didn’t know if anyone has any tips as far as performance mods what size tires to run all that kind of stuff. Looking to stay in the stock class or only go up to the limited class as I don’t want to put a ton of money into it. Just enough to do well. Pretty new to the pulling world and don’t know the little ins and outs of it. Right now it’s got a level kit and 35x12.5 tires so I know I should probably start there with lowering the front and running smaller tires. Don’t really know what to do beyond that. Thing is bone stock. Any help is greatly appreciated
thanks

No clue just what you can get away with...... I would think high-traction tires, and more weight in the bed would be a start.
