Adjustable Proportioning Valve
I am swapping my rear axle with drum brakes to a 3rd gen axle with disk brakes. If I buy an adjustable proportioning valve and set it up for disks, would my abs still work in the rear? I would route all the brakes lines the same way as stock. The 3rd gen axle uses the same abs system as the 2nd gen. I have been told I don't need to swap the proportioning valve but I'm asking thjs just in case.
I don't think it's that easy. The 2500/3500s got rear disks during the 2001 MY and both the master cylinder and the "combination valve" (proportioning and metering valve) are different. You'd likely need to swap out both. In terms of ABS function, double check that the tone ring is the same on 3rd gens and understand that using the wrong proportioning valve will make one axle brake disproportionally harder and have the ABS kick in earlier.

I have used both and am currently using a disc proportioning valve with drum brakes. I notice no difference in stopping and have not found a difference in them. Looking at a Durango Dodge lists the same part# for the drum and disc
so have you used a drum proportioning with disc brakes? Have you tried that on a 2nd gen? At this rate I'm just gonna through the rear axle under and go from there. If I need an adjustable proportioning valve I'll get on
Yes both were done on a 2nd gen. Noticed no difference. No lockup when hard on the brakes.

were you able to lock them up if you wanted to though?
Only on gravel ABS wouldn't allow lockup even with the disc brakes. Only reason I'm running drums is because I'm regearing the axles
