Default Exhaust system

Anyone out there install a Flowmaster Amercan Thunder exhaust system? I need to replace rusted out stock one. Also looking at their y-pipe with cat installed. Is it worth adding headers instead of stock manifold and is it worth wrapping them versus buying high-end ceramic coated ones. What are your thoughts.

I prefer the ceramic coating to wrap. The wrap tends to hold moisture against the tubes...... and they rust out. Ceramic is both a thermal barrier, and a rust preventer. The really good ones are coated inside, and out. (read that: Expensive. )

I am also a firm believer in 'every little bit helps'.... So yeah, I advocate headers, even shorties, over stock every time.

I decided to upgrade my exhaust system a few years ago to 3" from the converter on back, as I'm already running JBA coated shorty headers. I'm using the following muffler and converter:
Dynomax UltraFlo Welded Muffler - 17233 (3" inlet and outlet) and Magnaflow Converter - 99047HM (dual 2" inlets, 3" outlet, front O2 sensor port)

This system works well. The muffler flows extremely well and the sound is fairly quiet with a bit of a rumble as RPMs go up.

As stated, I wouldn't use a wrap on headers, as they trap water and cause rust issues. Coated headers are great, as they keep underhood temperatures lower than stock exhaust manifolds or uncoated headers.

What the heck. I was researching exhaust a while ago and could've sworn that kit was just a single pipe with a 70 muffler. Now it shows duals with a Super 50. I remember distinctly thinking that the 70 was too quiet.

Anyway, the kit looks nice but I also found a bunch of cheaper kits on ebay. Actually, now I can't find those either. What the hek!!

Edit: I think this is the kit I was considering. Though the price went up.
