It clicked in three times and looked like it should. Even moved easily. Makes me think it’s the seal

 

I did lube it with transmission fluid when I installed the tc. Sorry about the multiple reply’s I’m using my phone

 

you actually can test it if you remove the valve body. but that would probably void any transmission warranty.

to turn the flex plate you should be using a big ratchet or I use a breaker bar with a socket on the crank bolt. If you want it even easier, take the spark plugs out.

Yeah its really critical you check that the TC is inset by almost 1 inch before you put it in. Its really easy to think its on when its not correct. ( this is for GAS, diesel TC is different)

To diagnose the seal you can do it even while the trans is still installed. Remove the pan, remove the Valve Body ( but keep the shift rod connected, just sliglty move the valve body to expose air ports. Then you can do air port test on the TCC.

It's also possible that the Pump gasket ( a huge oring ) was damaged / forgotten or perhaps someone did not torque the pump cover bolts or use the sealing washers. When you unmate the trans you'll want to see if you can see a path from where the fluid travels.

When you pull the transmission out of the truck, please be sure to check your converter hub (for wear) and the bearing just behind the seal in the front pump.

 

I'm wondering if the converter was incorrectly installed. When you go to remove the bolts on converter hub, check to see if the converter will freely spin, theorically on a stock converter there will be 1/8 in of clearance/wiggle room if the converter is seated correctly.
