Default Sputtering while driving

My 2001 Ram 1500 (6 cylnder) started to sputter as if losing fuel but it has a full tank. It sputters and loses power for a minute or so then everything is fine. I am curious if it may be fuel filter which I know is in the tank...how long does it take to replace it if thats the problem? Does it sound as if it is the filter? Most times going down highway it will lose some power on occasion but generally does really good. Don't know if filter has ever been changed or not. Please help!

I the filter isn't really a filter like you think and it would take a lot of junk to clog it. Test the fuel pressure while driving.

Put a gauge on it with a long enough hose, that you can see it while driving. (which is gonna have to be pretty long.....)
