Hello I have the 46re in my 2000 1500. I am just curious as to know if it's safe to shift from drive to the lower 1 and 2 options when I am driving? Does it hurt anything in the trans? Just curious. I personally enjoy driving manuals and want to swap one in some day but right now I want to know a way to use engine braking when the snow comes. I loved using engine braking in the snow in my manual Jeep.

 

You can just make sure it is appropriate. Don't go shifting to 1 at 65
