How much PAG oil do I add to a new compressor, and system?
I’m replacing my entire system including evaporator coil. How much oil do I add to the compressor? The factory service manual is very confusing. It states that every component is dry except the compressor which will disperse the oil through the system once it’s engaged. It lists every capacity totaling 7.75oz except the compressor. Any help is greatly appreciated! (1996 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9 Magnum)
Pay to have it professionally leak checked, and recharged, once you have it all back together.
New compressor comes with oil already in it. Though just about 8 ounces of oil seems reasonable for the whole system..... I am just not sure.

I can do all that with my snap-on AC machine, however oil levels confuse me. The original compressor says it has a oil capacity of 240cc’s. Can I put the entire 240cc’s in the compressor after draining, and refilling? According to the FSM, the entire system takes 7.75 oz.
7.75 ounces is just a bit under 240 ccs or about 8.1 ounces. As I seem to recall, the A/C compressor comes pre-filled with oil and should be enough oil in it to support oiling the entire A/C system.
It does, however I want UV oil in my new unit, not regular PAG. Can I just add the 7.75oz IN the compressor, and just let her automatically disperse her oil wherever it needs to go?

Thank you so much! I know it seems like a fairly straightforward answer, but there’s SO many conflicting answers that my brain is practically fried! 😣
