Default Trans lever shift linkage

Is this supposed to have a bushing, and cotter pin? It’s to the trans gear shift lever/shift rod

If it's sloppy, there is probably supposed to be a bushing there. Check the end of the rod, and see if there is a hole for the cotter pin. Keep in mind, parts of it might still be in there, making it look like there is no hole.

In the parts manual, it looks like its a pin that keeps the rod in-place. Also looks like there should be a couple of small washers on there, too. See the attachment for the diagram and part numbers.
