According to the factory sales brochure it has different ratings depending on motor/transmission. No 4.10 gear on the 1500's but the 3.55/3.92/auto is 7700 for the 360 and 7800 for the 318 (tongue wt 700). Witch i do agree odd that the smaller motor is rated for more weight. 
Ya that is weird. Well then I would be in the safety zone technically then! And by the way I got aftermarket Yukon 4.10 gears installed.
