Default 5th wheel towing with 360

Hey guys , wondering if anyone in this group tows a 5th wheel camper with there 360? From what I understand 5th wheels " tow better" as the weight is over the axel. I currently have a older pull behind camper that weighs 3800# dry. I'm interested upgrading to a slightly bigger unit in which is a 5th wheel and sticker weight says 4800# even with the extra 1000 pounds think these older gasser can handle towing that in a 5th wheel? Only reason I'm concerned is the truck did OK at best towing the old camper I have now BUT I do have 33" tires which doesn't help anything. I do have 4.10 gears 4x4 and a recent tune which actually woke the truck up.
thanks for any advice

Is the truck a 1996 1500, 2500 or 3500 4x4 with a 5.9 gas engine?

Theoretically, the 1500 4x4 can pull 7600 pounds with the 360..... I would take that with a grain of salt though, as the same site thinks the 5.2 can tow 7700..... Which seems a little odd to me.

33's and 4.10's should go fairly well together. Biggest thing is, keep your trans cool, and don't tow in overdrive.

Yea I have a b&m trans cooler and a b&m deep pan has like 2 extra litres of oil plus a gauge wired to the pan to watch the temp. I also got a tune from utawespme which actually woke the truck up.
think my truck will handle the jpb for a 5th wheel close to 5000 pounds ?

How many miles on it?

I know my 96 with 200K on it really didn't like pulling my dump trailer full of dirt.... (likely 11K pounds) And it has the same engine/trans as you do. Just meaner axles/springs.

Has a rebuilt engine with about 40k on it with these internals.

Theoretically, it should pull it fine. Does your tuner come with a tow/haul tune? Might try using that as well.

Yah thats what I'm thinking to. Just don't want to buy a 5th wheel hitch and realize it's to heavy for the rig lol. I mean technically it should tow better with weight over the axles. Maybe get air bags to.
this is the camper I'm looking at for a visual says factory mass only 2127kg 🤔

According to the factory sales brochure it has different ratings depending on motor/transmission. No 4.10 gear on the 1500's but the 3.55/3.92/auto is 7700 for the 360 and 7800 for the 318 (tongue wt 700). Witch i do agree odd that the smaller motor is rated for more weight.
