1996 dodge ram 1500 4x4 crank no start
About 2 months ago my uncle gave me a 1996 dodge ram 1500 4x4. I gave it a Jump and it fired right up. We let it run for about 20 mins and than shut it off, it did not re start! Indicated it needed a new battery? So I bought one last week. ( 2 months later) Put new battery in and all's I got was crank? So I did some research and came up with replacing crankshaft sensor? so i did. It was a pain but I got it! Put the key in and same results? Does anyone know if it has a camshaft sensor in it? or What I could possibly try next? fuel pump? spark plugs? fuses? relays? im kinda lost at this point? please help me out thanks!

The crank sensor you installed - was it a Dodge crank sensor from a dealer? Aftermarket sensors don't tend to work too well in these trucks. Have you scanned the PCM for codes? If so, what are they? The truck does have a cam sensor that's located under the distributor cap. Before changing it, I'd check to see if the PCM has any codes to possibly help you troubleshoot the no-start issue you having. Do you know if your uncle had any maintenance performed before giving you the truck? If so, what maintenance has been done to-date?
@hey you, I am not anyone know why my obd2 code reader will not read my truck? My factory crankshaft sensor comes in tomorrow so hopefully that fixes my starting issue? Any other suggestions? I need to get this figured out Its my only source of transportation! thanks
@Atomic Dog He said nothing out of the norm? oil change, thermostat, He said it had a slight leak from radiator but he never over heated? I checked all fluids before I even attempted to start and I believe the freeze plug popped out as soon as I popped the radiator cap off? it was weird? but I put it back in place and move on to discover the no start issue I'm having now?
You don't need a scanner to read codes for a 96.
