melted next to blower unit

Default melted next to blower unit



Hi This melted whats it called and what should i replace. do i have to remove the dash to get at it? its new truck to me and i am not sure what the prevoius owner did to casue this.

That's the heater box, and yep, dash needs to come out to replace it. Do the heater and evaporator core while you are in there as well.

Is it melted or was someone attempting some "plastic welding" with an LP or MAPP gas torch? Or even heat gun?

The tape makes me suspicious they were trying to access the "floor" door as this is a common hack (and not necessarily a bad one depending upon intended use/age/condition/value of vehicle)


More to the point, is the melting causing you any issues? If everything works, leave well enough alone?
